What Is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a natural form of medicine, which originated in Germany in 1796. It was developed by a medical doctor named Samuel Hahnemann. Hahnemann was seeking a truer, deeper cure for his patients. The majority of homeopathic remedies are made from plant, animal and mineral sources, which are diluted and succussed.

How does it work? The idea is that your body knows exactly how to address any imbalance that occurs, physically, mentally or emotionally. If for some reason your body has not responded to a complaint then a remedy can be used to stimulate the body into action. The remedy acts as a messenger to remind the body of what it needs to do. This is why homeopathy is curative – it does not just address symptoms but asks the body to address the illness at its deepest source. This can involve work and commitment on the part of the patient to begin to understand how these patterns were formed and begin the process of becoming well.
When Should You Seek Homeopathic Care?
Homeopathy can be used in acute situations by the home prescriber quite easily. Homeopathic medicine is an excellent choice for chronic problems because it addresses the source of the mental, emotional or physical illness that continues to appear again and again. Together with your Homeopath, you will discover why you are ill and how to return to health.
Where Can You Find A Qualified Homeopath?
There are presently several organizations, which make referrals for qualified Homeopaths. Two, which are reliable sources, include:

Why Choose Homeopathic Medicine?
When you choose to treat your body with Homeopathic Medicine you are allowing your immune system an opportunity to work. Remedies do not overpower your system and merely take symptoms away. Homeopathic remedies work with your body to allow it to act and heal itself. To use Homeopathy successfully means that you will have to become in tune with your body and all the signs and symptoms it communicates to you. Learning to read your body like this strengthens your connection to becoming well and taking responsibility for your health. Lastly, Homeopathy is non-invasive, gentle and lasting. Good homeopathic prescribing can change your life.
What Is The Difference Between A Qualified Homeopath And A Naturopath?
A qualified Homeopath is a graduate of a three or four year professional training at a Classical Homeopathy school. The training should include an intensive clinical component.

The difference between a Homeopath and a Naturopath is quite significant. A Homeopath is a specialist in the field of Homeopathic Medicine. The training includes medical sciences, psychology and nutrition but the focus is on Homeopathic Medicine. Each remedy is studied in depth and presented with a number of clinical cases to insure that the graduates have a solid foundation in the field. They are truly experts in the art of Homeopathy.

Naturopathic Doctors study for four years at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. A Naturopath studies many areas of natural healing including herbs, nutrition, chiropractic, acupuncture and homeopathy. Their philosophy is to be eclectic in their approach to healing so they may use many healing modalities to address the needs of a patient. Many Naturopaths do choose to specialize in a particular area and may go on to take further training in that specific field.
