What Is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is considered a “talking treatment” that aims to assist you find ways of coping with problems you may be experiencing through the use of psychological techniques that are designed to challenge, encourage communication of conflicts and assist people to access insight into problems with the overarching goal being the relief of presenting symptoms.
Psychotherapy Should Provide A Safe, Non-judgmental Atmosphere
Many people who have sought help from family and friends often struggle with advice due to the biased perspective they are likely to experience given their past experiences with these contacts or preconceived notions that have been already established. More commonly people do not always seek to share their most intimate, private concerns with close friends or family.

You should never feel pressured, judged or criticized by a therapist. It is very normal for people to become well connected with their therapist in an allied and well boundaried relationship focusing on active work towards resolution.
Techniques
Psychotherapists may employ a range of techniques during treatment that are keyed to improving dialogue and enhancing insight, and providing strategies that may address specific complaints. Specific strategies and communication style will vary from client to client based on personality, age, gender and so on. Suggested techniques and intervention ideas can vary infinitely depending upon the presenting concerns and individual's personality and willingness to experiment with different coping strategies. It is not uncommon to access other allied professionals to seek out added support for example: massage, yoga, fitness consultation, chiropractic care, homeopathy and so on as a person works towards health.
